Mills & Reeve announce major refurbishment of their Birmingham office
Steve Allen, partner and head of our Birmingham office, said: “We want to create a space that encourages the type of ground breaking work we are really proud of, both as a firm and a city. We are building on the history of innovation Birmingham is known for and our new working environment will not only look fantastic but also encourage new and better ways of working with each other and our clients.
“The city is fast becoming one of the best investments for companies in the UK, and with the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham, we knew it was a great time to sharpen our focus on growing our business in the Midlands. We are confident our new look office will be able to attract and retain the best talent, so we can keep delivering a great service to clients.”
The new office has been designed by Area, part of the Fourfront Group, a commercial design, fit-out and furniture specialist, who worked collaboratively with the firm to produce a design that celebrates the city and creates a vibrant office environment.
The project is in the initial stages, with work beginning on what will eventually see our team shifting to agile working and a paperless office. Wendy Thomas, project manager, said: “We wanted to reference the heritage of Birmingham in the design of our new office premises in a way that would allow our staff to find better ways to work. From comfortable break out areas to sit-stand desks, enhanced cycle parking and shower facilities, to the new suite of meeting rooms, we will be creating an environment that encourages collaborative working and an emphasis on wellbeing.”
We were also conscious that old office equipment could be given a new home, with furniture being donated to local charity the Dogs Trust in Kenilworth, who help dogs live a happy life free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. All redundant IT equipment will be donated to IT Schools Africa at the end of the project. The charity aims to enhance young people’s education and job prospects, and ultimately help to transform the wider African economy.
